Banco Central y Asociación de Industrias dialogan sobre resultados de la economía

Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. El gobernador del Banco Central de la República Dominicana (BCRD), licenciado Héctor Valdez Albizu, recibió al presidente de la Asociación de Industrias de la República Dominicana (AIRD), licenciado Celso Juan Marranzini y a otros directivos de esa entidad, con quienes pasó balance al desempeño de la economía dominicana y a la actividad industrial del país, así como a la colocación sectorial de los recursos liberados del encaje legal.

En el encuentro, realizado en la Gobernación del Banco Central, Valdez Albizu informó que el crecimiento de la economía en el primer semestre del año fue de 4.7 %, con una inflación interanual de sólo 0.92 % y una inflación acumulada en el periodo enero-junio de 1.17 %.

Consideró estas cifras como un logro positivo, pese al entorno adverso internacional y a condiciones internas coyunturales que provocaron una ralentización en la producción y el consumo.

Añadió que se proyecta que la economía termine 2019 con un crecimiento entre 5.0 % y 5.5 %, lo cual nos ubicaría como la economía de mayor crecimiento de Latinoamérica, mientras la inflación cerraría el año por debajo del límite inferior de la meta del Programa Monetario de 4.0 % ± 1.0 %.

Destacó que República Dominicana, por su estabilidad macroeconómica y su seguridad jurídica, sigue generando confianza a los inversionistas internacionales, quienes continúan manifestando interés por el mercado local. En ese sentido, dijo que la inversión extranjera directa fue de USD$ 805.2 millones en enero-marzo y se proyecta que superaría los USD$2,500 millones al cierre del año.

Turismo y mercado cambiario

El gobernador Valdez Albizu reiteró que el efecto negativo que sufrió el turismo dominicano se ha ido revirtiendo, al punto de que puede hablarse de una auténtica recuperación de este sector vital para la generación de divisas.

Sobre el mercado cambiario, aseguró que está estable, destacándose que en lo que va de año la depreciación ha sido de apenas 1.5 %, “algo realmente poco significativo” y mucho más baja que la registrada en igual período del año pasado, cuando fue de 2.8 por ciento.

De su lado, Celso Juan Marranzini elogió las recientes medidas de flexibilización monetaria del Banco Central, calificándolas de muy necesarias y oportunas, por cuanto motivan a los sectores productivos y comerciales a llevar a cabo proyectos que inciden en una mayor dinamización de la economía.

Se recuerda que la Junta Monetaria aprobó una liberación de recursos del encaje legal de unos RD$ 34,365 millones, incluyendo préstamos interinos a la construcción, de los cuales las entidades financieras han colocado un 40.0 %, unos RD$ 13,641 millones, en sectores como la manufactura, el comercio, la agropecuaria, el consumo y las exportaciones.

En la reunión, acompañaron a Marranzini, Circe Almánzar, vicepresidenta ejecutiva de la AIRD, Luis Concepción, director de la AIRD y presidente de la Asociación Dominicana de Exportadores (ADOEXPO) y Roberto Despradel, asesor económico de la AIRD.

Por el Banco Central, estuvieron presentes la vicegobernadora, Clarissa de la Rocha de Torres; el gerente, Ervin Novas; el subgerente de Políticas Monetaria, Cambiaria y Financiera, Joel Tejeda; el asesor económico de la Gobernación y del Banco Central Julio Andújar Scheker y la directora de Cuentas Nacionales, Elina Rosario.
