ADOCEM PRESENTA INFORME ANUAL DE DESEMPEÑO
El informe titulado “Catalizadores para el Cambio y la Innovación” recoge los logros y desafíos más importantes de la industria

El Horizonte, Santo Domingo RD.- La Asociación Dominicana de Productores de Cemento Portland (ADOCEM) presentó su informe anual de desempeño correspondiente al 2020, donde se incluyen los resultados de la industria en términos éticos, económicos, sociales y ambientales, así como los logros alcanzados por la industria en la que se demuestra un crecimiento a pesar de ser un año de cambios, que se combinó con innovación y mejora continua.
Adriano Brunetti, presidente de ADOCEM indicó que: “Se hace necesario trabajar aún más duro y ser más disciplinados que nunca; enfocarnos en la experiencia y el talento innovador con que contamos como industria, en mejorar nuestro desempeño; estar preparados para aprovechar al máximo las oportunidades que se nos presenten; y, lo más importante, mantener nuestro compromiso de colaborar muy estrechamente con el desarrollo del país.”
El informe, entre otros datos económicos, evidencia la recuperación económica del sector a pesar de la pandemia, cerrando el año con una producción total de 5.1 millón de toneladas de cemento, de los cuales 11% fue destinado a la exportación y 4.4 millones de toneladas fueron consumidas en el país.
En relación con los aspectos ambientales el informe destaca la presentación de la Hoja de Ruta de la República Dominicana hacia una economía baja en carbono, lanzada en diciembre del año pasado, proyecto que tiene como uno de sus ejes principales la sostenibilidad en la industria de cemento, a través de identificación de soluciones más eficientes para la mitigación y adaptación requerida al cambio climático. Dentro de estas iniciativas se encuentran: uso de combustibles alternativos, uso de energía renovable, reducción del nivel de Clinker, reforestación de las áreas de explotación minera, entre otras. 
De cara a la sociedad el informe anual 2020 “Catalizadores para el Cambio y la Innovación” detalla las acciones de responsabilidad social ejecutadas por las empresas miembro de la asociación para aportar valor y seguir fomentando el desarrollo social en su entorno mediante la creación y fortalecimiento de protocolos de salud y seguridad, ayuda humanitaria; capacitaciones, donación de alimentos, insumos médicos, equipos de protección y pruebas médicas; donación de cemento para la construcción y reconstrucción de edificaciones, entre otras.
“Los próximos años estarán caracterizados por altos niveles de presión para mantener la competitividad, el crecimiento y nuestro compromiso con el desarrollo del país, lo que nos lleva a seguir buscando iniciativas cada vez más novedosas centradas en la eficiencia de nuestras operaciones y el valor agregado que aportamos, como el sector de relevancia nacional que somos”, vaticina Julissa Báez, directora ejecutiva de la organización.
